What is FCCLA?
FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) is a student-led organization that connects classroom learning to leadership, service, and real-world career preparation. It is an intracurricular CTSO (Career and Technical Student Organization) that is integrated into Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) education. It extends what students learn inside of the classroom and transforms it into a hands-on opportunity to lead, grow, and succeed.
FCCLA was founded in 1945 as the Future Homemakers of America (FHA) with the purpose to promote the best interests of young people of homemaking education. Achieved through programs of personal growth, family life, vocational preparation, and community involvement. Since the start of FCCLA, they've grown to have over 260,000 members in 5,383 chapters across 47 states, and Puerto Rico.

How can a student participate in FCCLA?
There are a variety of ways for students to participate in FCCLA! Each year the FCCLA membership choose different activities.
FCCLA students can choose to serve as a chapter officer, lead a team project, or represent your school at a national event. Members have the chance to compete in over 50 competitive events that pertain to 6 different career clusters. Students can attend their state leadership conference, participate in leadership academies and meet members from across the nation.
What is the benefit of being in FCCLA?
Students who participate in FCCLA develop confidence and leadership through officer roles, projects, and public speaking. They serve their schools and communities through service learning. Students explore career options and opportunities, and connect with professionals and employers. FCCLA members have the opportunity to earn scholarships and national recognition.
