What is Convocation?

Convocation is CTC’s formal recognition ceremony that celebrates students who have successfully completed their career-technical program (eligibility details below).

Because CTC does not grant high school diplomas, Convocation is not a graduation in the traditional sense. Instead, it’s a meaningful milestone that honors students for the hard work, skills, and credentials they’ve earned through their time at CTC.

At CTC's Convocation, students wear their graduation gown, are recognized on stage and receive their Certificate of Completion and Career Passport - a portfolio filled with the certifications and credentials they earned while at CTC.

Convocation Eligibility

Only students who earn the Certificate of Completion will be eligible to participate in the CTC Convocation Ceremony. This certificate is awarded to students who meet the following criteria:
  • Attendance: Student absences do not exceed 144 hours (equivalent to 24 school days) over the course of their two year program (all absences, including tardies and early dismissal, are counted toward the total absences, both excused and unexcused). Half-day Students: Half-day student absences do not exceed 72 hours over the course of their two year program.
  • Grades: Students must pass all courses in their Career Technical program and pass their courses to be eligible for their high school diploma. 4th Quarter Grades: If a student fails the 4th quarter of their Career Technical Program their senior year, they will need to meet with the Executive Director and may forfeit the opportunity to participate in the CTC convocation ceremony.
