Remembering Dylan Frederick, Class of 2025

Remembering Dylan Frederick, Class of 2025
The Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center community is grieving the loss of Dylan Frederick, a senior from Shawnee High School and a student in the Digital Media Design program. Dylan passed away on Saturday, May 10, following a car accident.

Dylan started his career at CTC in the Veterinary Science program' where he enjoyed working with animals, but found his true passion in the Digital Media Design program. He made the switch at the beginning of this school year. Although he was a senior, he quickly bonded with his junior classmates, becoming fast friends and part of a tight-knit group of students with a passion for photography.

Dylan's love for being behind the lens prompted him to volunteer to be a student photographer for the school’s Jaguar Jubilee car show last month. He showcased his talents at the Tech Prep Showcase held at Sinclair College, where he and a classmate presented their project, Architecture Photography of Springfield.

Dylan was a member of CTC's Business Professionals of America chapter, where he competed at the regional and state levels. He participated in the Visual Design Team competition with classmates, and although they didn't advance to state, he enjoyed the experience. Dylan also competed in Fundamental Desktop Publishing, earning 3rd Place at regionals and moving on to the state competition. He earned several Adobe Certified Professional certifications for visual and graphic design and Photoshop this year, and a spot on the Honor Roll.

Dylan also enjoyed creating music and was putting finishing touches on his yet-to-be-named album. Dylan was an old soul—quiet and unassuming, but full of depth. He had a gift for delivering perfectly timed one-liners and a wicked sense of humor that could catch you off guard in the best way. He will be missed greatly.

Dylan will be honored during CTC’s Convocation ceremony next week, where he will be recognized as a member of the Class of 2025. Dylan’s legacy lives on through the images he captured, the music he created, and the quiet but meaningful connections he built. He will be deeply missed—but never forgotten—by his CTC family.

For those who wish to honor Dylan’s memory and support his family the arrangements are:

  • Gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, May 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Littleton & Rue Funeral Home
  • A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, May 17, at 1 p.m. at Littleton and Rue Funeral Home.

School counselors and members of the mental health team are available on campus to support students and staff in the days ahead. If your student needs additional support, please do not hesitate to contact our school counselors.
