In Our Schools: Commissioners, Comics, and Welding!

In Our Schools is a weekly feature in the Sunday edition of the Springfield News-Sun. Each week different school districts are featured through photos, news briefs, staff profile, or superintendent column. Unfortunately, this column is not published online. This month Springfield-Clark CTC submitted several photos.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Junior and senior students in the Computer Graphic Arts program teamed up with cartoonist Jerzy Drozd to create their very own comic book. Jerzy helps Computer Graphic Arts senior Rhiana Garcia with her digital sketches as she works on her comic book.

Students then showcased their comic books at their very own Comic-Con at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Museum in Columbus. Kayla Robinson, a senior in the Computer Graphic Arts program from Springfield High School, showcases the comic that she wrote, designed, and illustrated.

CTC students, alumni, and staff shared information on the current challenges with CTC’s aging facilities and how learning and training efforts are constrained due to lack of space and infrastructure.

Students from CTC’s main campus and Northwestern High School shared their career-tech experience and career goals with the Clark County Commissioners. The commissioners presented the students with a proclamation declaring February Career-Tech Education month.

CTC Welding program students met with the President of the American Welding Society and the AWS Foundation staff to discuss career trends in the welding industry and starting a student chapter at CTC.
