First-Ever Student Showcase was a Resounding Success
First-Ever Student Showcase was a Resounding Success
More than 300 students participated in the inaugural Student Showcase at Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center (CTC). From sophomores to seniors, students from all levels showcased their talents, skills, and achievements during the day-long event. While mandatory for seniors, there was widespread engagement across all career-tech program labs and levels.
Voice and Choice in Projects and Presentations
The Student Showcase, a day-long event, allowed students to showcase projects, skills, and other achievements they’ve earned during their time at CTC. Students were given ‘voice and choice’ in which projects they wanted to highlight and were encouraged to consider career-tech and academic-related projects. Students had the freedom to present individually or in groups, using different methods such as hands-on demonstrations, video, display boards, and slides. This dynamic approach allowed students to unleash their creativity.
Examples of projects that were showcased:
- Lamps made from everyday materials
- Custom paint for a Chrysler 300
- Network design plans for a rural area
- Medical skills
- Soldering and flaring
- The art and science of gingerbread houses
Judges and Awards
CTC teachers, staff, and board members served as judges, along with admin from CTC’s associate school districts. Students opted in to earn points and compete amongst their peers. Award winners will be announced soon, so check back for details.
