CTC Students Triumph at SkillsUSA Regionals
A group of more than 30 high school students gather on stage to show off their medals.

Over the last three weeks, more than 30 students from Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center (CTC) have competed in the SkillsUSA Regional Competition. Hosted at Butler Tech’s Fairfield Township Campus and various offsite locations, our students faced off against the best and brightest from eighteen schools across the southwest region of Ohio.

Students on the Path to State

The competitions tested student knowledge and skills in various career fields, including automotive, electrical, health care, cosmetology, criminal justice, and welding. Students who earned first, second, or third place will advance to the SkillsUSA State Championships in early April.

1st Place Winners

  • Advertising Design - Kyanna Jenkins, a senior in the Computer Graphic Arts program from Greenon High School
  • Job Skill Demo A - Hannah Koyl, a senior in the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program from Kenton Ridge High School
  • Job Skill Demo Open - Brooklynn Haney, a senior in the Dental Assisting program from Tecumseh High School
  • Medical Terminology - Octavia Beal, a senior in the EMT program from Global Impact STEM Academy
  • Welding - Mason Haught, a junior in the Welding & Fabrication program from Tecumseh High School
  • Health Knowledge Bowl - A team of:
    • Alex Lubbers, a senior in the EMT program from Shawnee High School
    • Aleysia Gayheart, a senior in Medical Assisting from Tecumseh High School
    • Madison Bauer, a senior in EMT from Kenton Ridge High School
    • Tia Morris, a senior in EMT from Kenton Ridge High School

  • Electrical Construction Wiring - Jake Sanning, a senior in the Electrical Trades program from Tecumseh High School

3rd Place Winners

  • First Aid/CPR - Elizabeth Moore, a senior in the EMT program from Shawnee High School
  • Medical Terminology - Addison Brittingham, a junior in the EMT program from Greenon High School
  • Health Knowledge Bowl - A team of:
    • Alison Shaner, a junior in the EMT program from Northeastern High School
    • Corah Davis, a junior in the EMT program from Shawnee High School
    • Eva Espinoza, a junior in the EMT program from Catholic Central High School
    • Ni'yahna Banks, a junior in the Medical Assisting program from Springfield High School

CTC Students Serve in Leadership Roles

Presiding over the opening ceremony and awards were two CTC students who serve as Southwest Regional Officers:

  • Diego Martinez, a junior in the Medical Assisting program from Tecumseh High School
  • Hailey Neer, a junior in the Computer Graphic Arts program from Northeastern High School

In addition to the regional officers, three CTC students serve as State Officers for SkillsUSA:

  • Jaime Botello, a senior from Tecumseh High School in Electrical Trades program
  • Leah Shafer, a senior from Tecumseh High School in Nurse Assisting program
  • Xzavyier Mines, a senior from Springfield High School in the Engineering & Architectural Design program
