CTC Awarded $606k in Grant Funding for IT Programs

The Springfield-Clark County Career Technology Center (CTC) is proud to announce its selection as a recipient of a significant grant totaling $606,000 from the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce (DEW) CTE Equipment Grant Program. This grant is designated to enhance career technical education opportunities within the Information Technologies pathway, and will be utilized for CTC's  Software Programming Technologies Program and Cybersecurity Program.

Application Process and Purpose of the Grant
CTC pursued this grant opportunity as part of its ongoing commitment to ensure students are Career Ready, College Ready, and Life Ready. The funding will be utilized to equip students with the necessary knowledge, industry-recognized credentials, and job experience to excel in junior software development positions. Software Developer is listed as the 4th-most in-demand career on Ohio’s Top Jobs list. CTC's goal is to prepare students for this fast growing career field and to help students develop a competitive advantage.

Collaboration and Implementation
Partnering with industry leaders including TechSmart, INTERalliance, Standex, and Forward Edge, CTC plans to implement a curriculum that integrates software development skills with internship experiences. This initiative aligns with the statewide Ohio Codes workforce development program and aims to provide students with real-world opportunities to apply their learning.

The program will be offered not only at CTC's main campus but also as a satellite program at Greenon High School and Northwestern Senior High School. Additionally, a feeder pathway in Software Development and Coding will be introduced at the junior high schools in the same districts.

Utilization of Grant Funds
The grant will enable CTC to purchase updated student computers and monitors, projectors, Microsoft Azure for SQL Server, curriculum resources, and provide professional development for instructors. Moreover, students will have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized credentials, enhancing their employability upon graduation.

CTC is committed to providing students with the resources and opportunities needed to succeed in today's competitive job market. By investing in cutting-edge technology and industry partnerships, CTC continues to fulfill its mission of preparing students to be Career Ready, College Ready, and Life Ready!
