26 Students Participate in SkillsUSA Leadership Conference
It was a big week last week for CTC's SkillsUSA chapter! The chapter spent three days at the Fall Leadership Conference in Columbus, Ohio. The event brought together approximately 1,200 student leaders from across Ohio, providing a platform for leadership training, insights into running a school chapter, and inspirational speeches.
CTC was represented at the event by 26 students from a various programs at CTC, including Engineering & Architectural Design, Health Sciences, and Computer Graphic Arts. Three students are current State Officers and were part of the leadership team that coordinated the event and presented to the group:
- Jaime Botello, a Tecumseh High School senior in the Electrical Trades program
- Leah Shafer, a Tecumseh High School senior in the Nurse Assisting program
- Xzavyier Mines, a Springfield High School senior in the Engineering & Architectural Design program
In addition to the state officers, CTC's SkillSUSA chapter is also represented on the current regional leadership team:
- Nick Dunn, a Shawnee High School senior in the Dental Assisting program serves as a Regional Director
During the event, the six Ohio-based regions held elections to fill leadership positions. Seven CTC students ran for leadership positions in the Southwest Region, with two being elected as Regional Directors:
- Diego Martinez, a Tecumseh High School junior in the Health Occupations program
- Hailey Neer, a Northeastern High School junior in the Computer Graphic Arts program
Diego and Hailey's specific positions will be assigned during the Regional Officers Training Institute in January, during which they will visit the Ohio State Capitol, meet with state representatives, and learn to work with the other regional officers as a team.
