Proceeds Support Students in Ater's Drug Free Clubs of America

Visit SCCTC.org/ADFCA for more information on Ater's Drug Free Clubs of America chapter at CTC.

Ater's Drug Free Clubs of America (ADFCA) is a student group centered around positive peer pressure. Students sign up to be voluntarily drug tested, and then are rewarded throughout the year for their choice to lead a drug-free lifestyle! Past rewards have included donuts, an ice cream social, and an afternoon movie with popcorn among many others.

CTC partners with Mercy Health for the testing, and they and the ADFCA organization provide supports and counseling to students and their families who want to make the choice to be drug free, but may be struggling. Students pay $10 to join, and all other expenses are covered for both the testing and rewards (roughly $100 per student per year), so every dollar raised through the Dick Ater Memorial Jaguar Jubilee benefits our students and our community! For the 23-24 school year, we have just over 220 members, including all of our students on job placement!

Who was Dick Ater?

Dick Ater was the Auto Body and Collision Repair instructor at CTC for over 20 years. In that time he did many wonderful things, but his biggest impact was with his students. He cared very deeply and wanted them to be successful in life, no matter what career they chose.

When he heard about Drug Free Clubs of America, he was one of its biggest supporters and pushed to have it brought to our campus, speaking in front of the Board of Education and many others about how this could change students' lives and impact the community in such a positive way. Starting the Jaguar Jubilee combined his love of cars, his students, and this community, and the need to raise funds to support  Ater's Drug Free Clubs of America chapter at CTC! Naming this event and the student group is one small way we hope to honor his legacy and continued impact at CTC!

Dick Ater shared his passion for all things cars and automotive with CTC students for over 20 years. He was a staunch advocate for Drug Free Clubs of America and the driving force that brought the student organization to CTC. The Jaguar Jubilee is honors his legacy and combines his love for cars, students, and the need to support students in making drug-free choices.
