Jerry M. Greene Scholarship Winner Myers

We congradulate Cierra Myers.  She is a Culinary Arts Senior from Springfield High School.  She was the recipient of a $1500 Jerry M. Greene Scholarship. 

SkillsUSA Students Do Well at State Championships Skills

On April 24 and 25, we had forty-two students attend the SkillsUSA State Championships at the Columbus Convention Center. There were over five thousand SkillsUSA student members, advisors, parents and industry partners from Ohio in attendance. We had thirty-four students compete in various skill and leadership competitions. Except for acouple of state contests, students had to place in the top three at the Southwest Regional Competitions to advance to the State Conference. The following students received metals because they placed in the top three in the state of Ohio:

It's Welding Rodeo Week! The 6th Annual Welding Rodeo will be held this Friday and Saturday. The theme this year is transportation. Spectators are welcome throughout the day Friday and Saturday.

Mr. Eric Barge ~ Springfield Rotary Excellence in Teaching Award Barge

Mr Eric Barge was named a recipient of the Springfield Rotary Club’s annual Excellence in Teaching Award and was honored by the group on March 19th.   Mr. Barge is our Engineering and Architectural Design Instructor.

Springfield-Clark Career Technology Center students and staff learned about a classic American novel by encouraging students to use their career paths to re-enact the era.

CTC seniors recently read “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, 11th and 12th grade English teacher Michelle Carn said.


SkillsUSA Regional Competition Regionals

On March 3rd we sent thirty-four students to compete at the SkillsUSA Regional Competitions which were held at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center in Bellefontaine, Ohio. They competed against the top students from over eighteen different schools in the Southwest regional of Ohio. The following students placed in the top three in their competition.  These students will advance to compete against the top students in Ohio at the SkillsUSA Ohio Championships on April 24 & 25, 2018 at the Columbus Convention Center.  We also had two of the seven regional officers who oversaw the SkillsUSA Regional Competitions. Jared Jenkins (Kenton Ridge) a junior in the Engineering & CNC program serves as the Southwest Regional Historian and Kara Horn (Tecumseh) a senior in the Engineering & CNC program serves as the Southwest Regional President. As both a competitor and the Southwest Regional President, Kara Horn had a very busy day competing, overseeing the opening ceremony, and giving the opening speech at the awards ceremony.

Students Participate in SkillsUSA Ohio Career Day with the Blue Jackets blue Jackets

SkillsUSA members and their advisers attended the SkillsUSA Ohio Career Day with the Blue Jackets.  They listened to a speaker panel made up of Blue Jackets and Nationwide Arena Staff, had a behind-the-scenes tour of Nationwide Arena and then attended a Blue Jackets game.

Veteran's Day Luncheon Veterans

On Friday, November 10th a Veteran's Day Luncheon was held to honor Veterans.  Students were encouraged to invite a Veteran close to them to attend the luncheon with them.  The Culinary Arts Program prepared a special buffet in their honor.  After the luncheon and ceremony, the student body "clapped" the Veterans out.

Jan Kish, a world renowned pastry chef, and Ashley Owens, a 2016 Graduate from the Culinary Arts Program, came to the CTC Tuesday to inspire the current students. Ashley has done an outstanding job with her apprenticeship with Jan and it was great seeing her shine. The students were in awe of Jan and her talent. They loved hearing her stories about the industry and her television appearances.

BPA Fall Conference Sophia and Nathan

Eighteen Business Professionals of America members attended the Ohio Fall Leadership Conference in Columbus, Ohio on November 1st.  

SkillsUSA Fall Conference Skills

Twenty students attend the SkillsUSA State Fall Leadership Conference in Columbus, Ohio on October 29th -31st.  During the conference students received leadership training and had the privilege of hearing from a renowned motivational speaker. All the students worked very hard and were great representatives of the CTC. On Tuesday the regional elections were held. Seven of our students (maximum allowed by a school) ran for regional office and they all made it to the final two for their office. This is a first for Springfield-Clark CTC!! The students were Jerid Jenkins, Cheyenne Williams, Hailey Pennington, Kara Horn, Beda Hinderer, Breann Blue and Macy McGillivray.

A representative from Jostens will be on Campus Wednesday, October 18th to talk to all seniors. 

H20 Club Participates in the "Making Strides for Breast Cancer" walk. H20

The H2O Club participated in the "Making Strides for Breast Cancer" walk on Saturday, October 7th. With the Pink Out day held at CTC and online donations, the organization was able to raise just about $900!

The following students have made the final cut  and will be Tour Guides for the 2017/2018 school year.  Congratulations!   These exemplary students will be conducting tours for community members, 8th grade student tours, and helping with special events.

The 2017-18 Program Ambassadors have been selected by their instructors.  These ambassadors visit each of the high schools in Clark County to share information about their specific programs.  They encourage students to explore what CTC can offer them depending on their interests and future education goals.

Friday, September 15th

will be a Business Casual Spirit Day. Students may wear their home school spirit attire or collegiate spirit wear.

If students choose not to participate in the Business Casual Spirit Day, they must be in their lab uniform. As always, lab instructor permission is required.

SkillsUSA Junior Officers Elected Junior Officers

On Friday, September 8th SkillsUSA junior elections were held. All of the students did a great job, but only a small group can be local chapter officers. School Pictures Taken Tuesday, August 22nd Pictures

School pictures will be taken on Tuesday, August 22nd.  Ordering information was sent in the postal mail to each student's address on file.  If you did not get the order form, students can get one in the Main Office from Mrs. Holstein.  

Online Forms Now Available to be Completed Online Forms

Springfield-Clark CTC has partnered with eSchoolView to simplify our back to school forms process.  The new system reduces the number of forms that you have to complete while removing the redundancy in completing general student information on the top of every form.  This new solution also allows information to be available to staff much sooner and more efficiently.

SkillsUSA Summer Leadership Camp Camp

Six of our SkillsUSA senior officers attended the five day SkillsUSA Summer Leadership Camp at Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio. There were over 200 student leaders from school from all over Ohio in attendance. While at the camp they worked to improve their leadership skills, communication skills and teamwork skills, just to name a few. They competed in various individual and team events. Our students all earned their statesman award, which is only given to students who complete all the activities and training sessions. BreAnn Blue placed second in prepared speech, Kara Horn placed first in Extemporaneous Speaking and Blake Rice placed second in both Opening & Closing competition and Volleyball.

First Day of School for All Students First Day of School

The first day for classes is Wednesday, August 16th.  The first bell is at 7:45am.  We are so excited to see you !!!

We have scheduled the following days and times to take photos for student IDs.  

Incoming New Students: Come to CTC on August 7th or 8th from 9am - 11:30am or 1pm to 3pm to have your picture taken for your student Id.

Returning Students: Come to CTC on August 10th or 11th from 9am - 11:30am or 1pm to 3pm to have your picture taken for your student Id.

Student - Parent Orientation Orientation

Student-Parent Orientation is August 14th from 4pm to 7pm. All students, along with their parents, are encouraged to attend. Students will meet with their instructors in their labs and pick up their schedules. This is the time for all students to become familiar with their schedules, their teachers, and the location of their classes. We hope to see you !!!

SkillsUSA National Conference Nationals

Five students attended the SkillsUSA National Conference in Louisville, Kentucky on June 19-24, 2017. SkillsUSA is a national organization for career technical students training for career in trade, industrial, technical and health related occupations. The SkillsUSA National Conference focuses on competitive events showcasing the best career and technical education students in the nation. Contests begin locally and continue through the regional, state and national levels. This is a multi-million-dollar event that occupies a space equivalent to 16 football fields. There were more than 6,000 contestants in over 100 separate events. Nearly 1,500 judges and contest organizers from labor and management make the national event possible. The philosophy of the Championships is to reward students for excellence, to involve industry in directly evaluating student performance and to keep training relevant to employers’ needs.


Junior students uniform order deadline is July 7th Order

Incoming Junior students need to order their uniforms by July 7th at The MacRay Company.  They are located at 100 W. North Street, Springfield.  (Located close to Springfield Regional Medical Center).  Business hours are 8:30am to 6:00pm.  937.325.1726.  Uniform costs are added to the student's school account and can be paid along with yearly school fees.
