Dental Assisting Program

At SCCTC, we recognize the opportunity that exists for our students, and thus, tailor our curriculum to give students a solid base of knowledge that will best prepare them for their chosen fields. From nursing assistants to dental assistants, our program offers the hands on experience that helps our students succeed. Armed with this practical education experience, SCCTC students are better prepared to enter the workforce or to transition seamlessly into post graduate studies.

The demand for health-related services continues to rise rapidly, especially in this fast-growing field. Prepare for a successful career in the CTC Dental Assisting Program. The sky is the limit. Complete this program and prepare to choose one of these career options: secure a full-time, well-paying job or continue your education and become an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant, a Dental Hygienist, or even a Dentist.

Hands-on
Basic dental assisting skills are taught and will enable students to enter the workforce or continue their education after graduation.

Opportunities after Graduation
The basic training offered at the CTC will enable a student to gain an entry-level position as a chair-side assistant, office receptionist or laboratory assistant. Most laboratory technicians will require additional training either on the job or at a formal training institute. Students who complete this program and pass the State Board Exam will receive their Ohio Dental Assistant’s Certification and Dental Radiographer’s License. Many students choose to continue their education at a two or four-year university, community college or technical institute. If students meet eligibility requirements they can receive a $3,000 scholarship from Sinclair Community College to attend the Dental Hygiene program*. They can also receive college credit for passing the DEH 1102 Introduction to Dentistry online course and the CPR Certification Course. The salary for a dental assistant ranges from $9 to $20 per hour for an experienced dental assistant. Many students continue in the field of dental hygiene, some pursue the field of dentistry. Dental hygienists can earn in the range of $25 to $35 per hour.
